What have you wondered about recently?
The tenth grade boys have been studying political
philosophy in their Humane Letters class in these past weeks. “So far, we’ve discussed three main writers,” says one sophomore: “Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. We observed their individual remarks on the state of nature and man’s rights, and each’s solution to regular human problems.” The students have been comparing and contrasting the philosophers in class and in essays, and enjoyed discussing the question, “Under what conditions does man flourish?”
